I live about 1 1/4 hours from Deans Beans in Orange, MA. I decided to start home roasting my own coffee and am very socially conscious. Finding Deans Beans was great. I took a ride out there with my son and was able to talk to the manager, who was a wealth of knowledge when it comes to their coffee. He made several suggestions and I bought a bunch of 1 lb bags to see what I liked. I've since ordered several 5 lb bags as well as some more of the 1lb and have even bought their cocoa with is awesome. The coffee is great tasting and you can feel good about the fact that it's fair trade. The atmosphere at Deans Beans was very upbeat and the workers seemed to be pretty happy. I totally agree that if the business world had more people like Dean it would be a much better place but I also agree that won't happen on its own. People have to organize for a better world!

Thanks for your comment, Murray. We agree with you - if all companies were more like the innovative Challenger Brands we feature each week, the improvements (to business and to society) would be endless!

I have been ordering my coffee from Dean's Beans for awhile now, and the more I read about Dean Cyon, the more I'm convinced if all businessmen behaved like Dean, we would have no problems in the world. Great coffee, fairly and sustainably produced, at a great price. Most of his competitors are doing less for the farmers and charging way more for their product. Dean Cyon is a godsend to coffee lovers and most of all, to coffee farmers!
